DOAC e-Learning Available for Clinical Staff

The ICB has commissioned an anticoagulation and stroke prevention education package from Helicon Health for all primary care staff involved in caring for patients on oral coagulation.  This includes both eLearning and a series of four webinars. This will be available to all staff involved in caring for patients on oral coagulation, broken down into 13 bite-sized sessions ranging from 30 minutes to two hours, per session. The series of webinars will commence on 11 November and will be held at intervals up until next summer. The webinars are suitable for all clinical staff caring for patients with Atrial Fibrillation or who may be at risk of stroke.  All webinars will be delivered by Dr. Yassir Javaid: Clinical Subject Matter Expert (GP with a specialist interest in cardiology).  Please see the brief biography below:

Dr Javaid qualified from Cambridge University and completed his VTS training in Northampton. He has a specialist interest in cardiology and echocardiography and was a clinical lead in the Northamptonshire Community Cardiology service, which had a focus on patients with heart failure and valve disease. He was also the primary care Cardiovascular lead for the East Midlands Clinical Network from 2013-2020. He was named Pulse “GP of the Year” in 2015 for his work in reducing stroke emergency admissions in the East Midlands. He is on the editorial board for the British Journal of Cardiology and a trustee of Heart Valve Voice.
