Announcing the London Neighbourhood Data Explorer
The London Neighbourhood Data Explorer brings together a wide range of public data in one place, organised around London's neighbourhood. It enables anyone working in neighbourhood health and care to access clear, timely, and free insights about their local area. London Neighbourhood Data Explorer
The Programme supported London in becoming the first region to define and formally establish neighbourhood boundaries. Through ongoing engagement with local delivery teams, it became clear that many were struggling to access basic neighbourhood-level data, such as population demographics, prevalence of long-term conditions, deprivation indices, and crime and safety statistics, without relying on already stretched analytics teams.
The London Neighbourhood Data Explorer was developed as a free resource for NHS organisations, local authorities, VCFSE organisations, and residents. It aims to make neighbourhoods more visible and accessible by providing the essential insights needed to support local decision-making. Equitable access to information is central to the neighbourhood agenda, and we are committed to keeping the tool free for all users.
The tool will continue to evolve, with new datasets being added based on user feedback. Recent examples include:
Metrics from the Digital Exclusion Risk Atlas (DERA) added following a request from London Councils.
Metrics from the Community Needs Index added following a request from OSCI.
We encourage you to explore the tool and share the attached flyer with colleagues. Feedback and suggestions for additional datasets are always welcome and can be submitted using the feedback box located in the bottom-left corner of the tool.
If you work for a London council or NHS provider organisation, we would be keen to explore opportunities to incorporate aggregated service delivery data into the platform, helping to further improve equitable access to data and insights across partner organisations.
