Test, Learn and Share Innovation in Neighbourhood Health

The NCL Training Hub is supporting innovation in neighbourhood health by funding five pilot projects, one in each NCL borough, over a 12-month period. The programme reflects the growing role of primary care in neighbourhood-based care and the development of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTs).

A series of case studies will be developed throughout the year to showcase the impact, value and learning from each pilot.

What is the Champion Innovation Programme?

Each borough will receive funding to develop a primary care project that aligns with local neighbourhood health and INT priorities. The projects are designed to test new approaches on a small scale, generating evidence and learning that can be shared across NCL and more widely across North West London (NWL).

Projects must have a strong educational focus, supporting workforce development and transformation within primary care teams and neighbourhoods. Topics could include organisational development, sharing primary care expertise with multidisciplinary partners, or exploring new ways of collaborative working across neighbourhood teams.

The programme aims to:

  • Support workforce development within primary care and neighbourhood teams

  • Encourage innovation and local problem-solving

  • Strengthen Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) working

  • Generate evidence and learning that can be shared across NCL and NWL

  • Develop practical case studies and resources to support wider adoption of successful approaches

Innovation Opportunities

Funding is available for projects that:

  • Support neighbourhood and INT development

  • Extend existing PCN champion projects

  • Support organisational development

  • Improve partnership working across sectors

  • Build new workforce capabilities
