LTC Update Webinar: Cardiovascular Disease Primary and Secondary Prevention

This session is aimed at anyone involved in primary or secondary CVD prevention in primary care.

About the session:

This session aims to update on the latest guidance for CVD prevention including blood pressure and cholesterol targets, the evidence for and relative roles of lifestyle, statins and other newer cholesterol lowering drugs. It will also discuss frailty and when to consider relaxing targets.

  • Dr Marc George Consultant in General (Internal) Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at UCLH and Honorary Associate Professor at the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences

  • Professor Riyaz Patel Consultant cardiologist and clinical academic working at UCLH and Barts Health NHS trusts and at University College London (UCL)

  • Dr Arvind Chanadratheva Consultant Neurologist NHNN and NCL Stroke lead

  • Dr Martin Glasser MBBS PhD MRCP, Consultant in Geriatric and General (Internal) Medicine, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

Background:

NCL Training Hub is coordinating with local consultants, primary care leads, specialist nurses and public health to arrange a series of webinars to provide updates on guidance, pathways and resources to support good care for the conditions within the LTC LCS programme. Events are open to anyone across NCL delivering care for patients with long term conditions. All presenters are keen to address learning needs across the patch.
