LTC Webinar: Hypertension diagnosis and management
This LTC webinar will explore the broader impact of hypertension and review current guidance on its management, including considerations around treatment timing and approaches. It will also touch on supporting patient engagement, managing more complex cases and when it may be appropriate to adjust treatment goals.
The session will cover:
The public health impact of hypertension
The latest National and NCL guidance for blood pressure management.
How quickly one should up-titrate medications
The evidence for and relative roles of lifestyle and drugs in risk reduction.
Supporting patients to get on board with treatment
How to manage difficult patients e.g. those with postural drops and those whose blood pressure is hard to control
We will also discuss frailty and when to consider relaxing targets.
