Express Your Interest: hosting multi sector foundation trainee pharmacist prescribing placements, summer 2025

NCL Training Hub are seeking innovative GPs and PCNs to partner with community pharmacies across NCL to offer placements for foundation trainee pharmacists (FTPs) undertaking their training year, commencing summer 2025.

The main objective of the placement is to enable the FTP to fulfil the prescribing component of their training which requires supervision by a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP). 

Benefits of hosting an FTP:

Development of educators and supervisors within practice team. Hosting an FTP and facilitating their development can be a hugely rewarding experience. Also, providing a personal development opportunity to upskill supervisory and leadership skills across clinical team members, which is known to contribute to improving staff retention. 

Strengthen cross-sector relationships. Opportunity to work with colleagues across the ICS and integrate knowledge from both sectors to streamline service delivery.

Contributing to development of the future pharmacy workforce. An opportunity to promote primary care as a future career option for future pharmacists to support multi-professional working in General Practice.
