HCP EOI's: London Metropolitan University Upward Bound Career Day

The Upward Bound Career Day is an opportunity for students to connect with the world of work through engaging with professionals from a variety of industries spanning health and social care. The half-day event on Saturday 20 May 2023, 10:00 – 12:30 invites students to see beyond the school curriculum and start to visualise future learning and employment pathways.

The event is linked to the Upward Bound programme aimed at raising the attainment and supporting the aspirations of young people participating Islington secondary schools. Supported and funded by the Dame Alice Owen Foundation, it provides an alternative learning environment within a university setting, addressing the academic, social, and cultural needs of the cohort. The programme runs on Saturday mornings during term time for 29 weeks a year for two years at London Metropolitan University as well as a residential. All students participate in the course for the whole two years allowing them to feel a sense of community and importantly, stability.

London Metropolitan University is looking for healthcare professions to contribute to a range of activities running as part of this event, including:

  • Mixed professions Q&A panel

  • Insight sessions with professionals (short session supplying insight into job role, career path, entry requirements and skills needed for the industry)

  • Employability skills workshop

If you are a healthcare professional who would like to support the event and take part in a Q&A panel or workshop or would like more information on the event, please contact Maxine Bunting-Thomas: M.Bunting-thomas@londonmet.ac.uk
