Apprenticeships News: Level 7 Apprenticeship Funding Change & Advanced Practice
Reminder that from next year funding for Level 7 apprenticeship will change.
From 1 January 2026, Level 7 apprenticeships will only be funded for people aged 16-21, and people under 25 who are care leavers and those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) at the start of their apprenticeship programme in England - employers wishing to utilise level 7 apprenticeships will be required to pay for them themselves for apprentices who do not meet this criteria.

This will impact the Advanced Practitioner apprenticeship route which is a Level 7 apprenticeship and will no longer be funded through the apprenticeship levy from January 2026.
University application deadlines for September 2025 intakes on the Advanced Practitioner Apprenticeships are approaching. The NCL Training Hub can support employers to secure apprenticeship levy ensuring the apprenticeship is fully funded before the change in January 2026. NHSE currently provide training grants to employers to support with supervision fees – this is £6,000 for 2025/2026 for the Advanced Practitioner apprenticeship route.
Please note, advanced practitioner training through the MSc and supported e-portfolio routes will remain available and are unaffected by this change.
