Ministerial Visit for Islington Practice

Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, visited Junction Medical Centre in Tufnell Park on 6 November to learn more about the WorkWell programme that the ICB launched last month.

WorkWell, a new joint programme by DWP and DHSC, went live in October this year, backed by £64m funding.

The North Central London pilot has received over 100 referrals from healthcare professionals since launch on 1st October. Over the 18-month lifetime of the pilot, 3,000 participants are expected to be supported across North Central London.

For those already in work, but at risk of falling out of employment, WorkWell can offer advice on managing health barriers in the workplace, a review of reasonable adjustments with employers, and support on return-to-work plans.

Ministers spoke to people who are currently being supported by the service, as well as GPs and practice staff.   Thank you to everyone at the practice that made the visit a success.
