Physician Associate Apprenticeship Training Programme
To help grow and transform the Physician Associate (PA) workforce, NHS England are launching a PA Apprenticeship Programme (salary currently funded under the ARRS) and are offering a limited number of training support grants to employers of £10,000 per apprentice.
Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes. An apprentice is an employee with a paid job, contract of employment and holiday leave. They learn and gain on the job experience. Apprentices must spend at least an average of 6 hours per week of their working hours ‘off-the-job’, completing classroom-based learning, which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. For degree apprenticeships the off-the-job learning is typically around 40%.
As employers, if your PCN is interested in growing your own PAs please submit your expressions of interest via this national online survey (please ensure you read the attached guidance).
The EOI survey is currently open and closes at 6pm on 14th July 2023.
Please note that neither you (the employer), nor NHS England, are committing to anything by showing an EOI. Employers are advised to wait for confirmation from NHS England as to which training posts will be awarded funding before enrolling apprentices on programme.
