Primary Care Genomic Education Programme

The NHS North Thames Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) is holding a series of training workshops for primary care staff to provide an overview of the GMS and explore its application within primary care. The programme consists of a series of 3 x 1 hour modules with time included for Q&As. 

Module 1 (28th March - 2nd May)

  • Introduction to Genomics

  • Overview of ‘red flags’

  • Overview of the National Genomic Test Directory

Module 2 (18th May - 12th July)

  • Explore familial cancer, in particular breast cancer and Lynch syndrome

  • An introduction to risk assessment tools

Module 3 (13th September - 10th November)

  • Introduction to Pharmacogenomics

  • How to respond to Direct To Consumer Testing
