NCL Core Immunisation Training (for Registered Health Professionals)
Eligibility:
This training is ONLY open to nurses or registered health professionals, including clinical pharmacists and Paramedics who works in North Central London. Not for HCAs.
Date: Thursday 17th September 2026
Time: 9:30am to 4:30pm
Delivery: Face to face
About the training:
Part of a wider initiative to enhance immunisation skills among healthcare professionals in NCL. It provides essential foundation-level immunisation knowledge and practical skills for those who have not yet completed equivalent training. By attending, participants will gain the theoretical understanding and practical techniques needed to administer immunisations safely and effectively, in compliance with best practices.
NCL Immunisation Update Training
Eligibility:
This training is exclusively for nurses, clinical pharmacists, paramedics and health care assistants — who are currently working in general practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) across North Central London (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington).
Dates & Times:
Thursday 10th September 2026 – 1pm to 4.30pm (Online)
Tuesday 22nd September 2026 – 9am to 12.30pm (Online)
About the training:
The session is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance immunisation knowledge and practical skills among healthcare professionals in North Central London.
The training will include:
Key updates on immunisation practices and policies
Contraindications to vaccines
The routine schedule, inc. changes
• Child and adolescent schedule: Measles, Chickenpox, Polio & Diphtheria
• Pregnancy: Pertussis, RSV
• Older members of the population: Shingles, RSV
Influenza
NCL Core Immunisation Training (for Health Care Assistants)
Eligibility:
This training is ONLY open to Health Care Assistants working in general practices and PCNs in North Central London (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington) who have not previously done equivalent foundation training. Please note: this session is not for registered clinicians (e.g. nurses, pharmacists, paramedics).
Date: Tuesday 15th September 2026
Time: 9:30am to 1:30pm
Delivery: Face to Face
About the training:
This is a face-to-face training session. Venue details will be shared with participants who have completed the elearning modules, submitted their certificates, and registered via the provided link.
What you’ll learn (HCA-focused)
• Your role and boundaries in immunisation, working under PSD and clinical supervision
• Safe practice: documentation/record-keeping, consent (obtained by a registered clinician), cold chain,
anaphylaxis preparedness
• Practical injection technique (adult) and nasal administration (children)
• Core knowledge for vaccines typically delegated to HCAs in primary care (e.g. influenza, shingles, pneumococcal; RSV where locally approved)
• Communicating expected side effects and “when to seek help”

Learners attending Core Immunisation Training must complete the following e-LfH Immunisation (IMM) modules:
· National immunisation policy and programmes
· Immunology and types of vaccine
· Vaccine-preventable diseases
· Communicating with patients, parents and carers
· Legal aspects of vaccination
· Vaccine storage (cold chain)
· Vaccine administration
Certificates must be emailed before attendance to: certificates@communitymatters.co.uk
Delegates must also complete a competency assessment and sign-off with their employer before administering vaccinations.
