On the Education Faculty pages you will find information and resources for educators and those wishing to engage with faculty at an NCL and Borough level, including how to join your local Multi-Professional Educator Group (MPEG) and Communities of Practice.

What is the Education Faculty?

The Education Faculty is comprised of the NCL’s five Boroughs who work together to design and grow education workshops and resources, either as standalone workshops on a local footprint, or for pan NCL events. Much of the education is delivered in Borough MPEGs within a Teach-The-Teacher model; you will have access to narrated slides, videos, facilitator notes and lesson plans to disseminate learning and share with your practice teams, groups and networks.

What are the benefits of joining my local MPEG?

Who can join?

MPEGs are open to all roles working in Primary Care. This includes senior educators of all multi-professional roles - in particular colleagues who support, or plan to support, learners with their education, or a role as a clinical supervisor or similar – in addition to junior clinicians and those new to practice. Other non-clinical roles are also welcome to join. MPEG workshops do not require any prior knowledge levels; education that is delivered is relevant to all colleagues wishing to develop skills in a Primary Care role and enhance their CPD, in addition to supporting clinicians in a supervisory or leadership role.

What education does my MPEG deliver?

MPEGs provide education workshops on a range of topics, from supervising learners (topics such as gathering feedback, understanding multi-disciplinary roles, supervising learners in difficulty), to working in different teams (neurodiversity, psychological safety) and overcoming barriers to support your own career development (reflection, coaching, burnout).

What other support is available?

MPEGs are also communities which can provide peer support; they are opportunities to meet colleagues from across your borough and depending on your experience, you might share your experiences and contribute to case studies supporting colleagues, or you can take road-tested resources back to your practice to share with your own team. Education is delivered within a Teach-The-Teacher model; you will have access to narrated slides, videos, facilitator notes and lesson plans to disseminate learning.

Do I need to be an approved educator to join?

No. MPEGs are a great way to introduce you to different aspects of being an educator, and will help identify some which you may already be doing in your daily role.  Joining your MPEG and can the the first step towards applying for educator approval through the Training Hub, while approved educators can highlight participation when submitting the reflective statements as part of the NSHE PCN Self-Assessment exercise.

When and how do MPEGs meet?

MPEGs meet regularly across the year. Delivery of education is through both online sessions and longer face-to-face workshops. At times, the Education Faculty might also run events which are pan-NCL, and on other occasions your borough will link in with local GP Trainer’s Groups.
