Speaking up is about talking about anything that gets in the way of doing a great job. This might be about a process, the way a service works, how patients and colleagues experience services or a patient safety matter.

You can speak up to anyone, this might be a colleague, a line manager or your Freedom to Speak up Guardian, who has specialist training and can hear your concern in confidence. What's important is to speak up and for those hearing the concern to listen and respond. We encourage all to take part in the training to help build skills in speaking up and responding to concerns. You can access this via e Learning for Health, it's free, counts towards CPD and can really make a difference.
